The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is an export promotion organization under Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India. It is mandated with the responsibility of promotion and development of the export of its scheduled products.
APEDA identified that cold stores are the major revenue contributors of the Indian Cold Chain industry and India Cold Chain Show is a medium to make changes in cold chain market of India by exhibiting and inviting global market players. Growing annually at 28% the total value of cold chain industry in India is expected to reach ~USD 13 billion by 2017 through increased investments, modernization of existing facilities, and establishment of new ventures via private and government partnerships. Cold storage capacity is expected to grow at 13% per annum over the next 4 years. Federation of Cold Storages Association (FCAOI)
The Federation of Cold Storage Associations of India (FCAOI) is an all India association with members in most of the states in the country. There is a huge need for cold storage facilities in India leading to the formation of state level associations who look after their concerns.
The Objectives of FCAOI
- To unite the cold storage industry in India, under the FCAOI umbrella.
- Exchange and share the latest cold storage technology among member federations within the country and outside India too.
- Organising conferences, meetings to plan and execute strategies of FCAOI; arranging the visits of various industry experts.
- To provide, make available and publish knowledge and information on different laws and legislation that impacts the cold storage industry.

National Centre for Cold Chain Development (NCCD)
National Centre for Cold Chain Development (NCCD) in India as an autonomous centre for excellence to be established as a registered society to work in close collaboration with industry and other stake holders to promote and develop integrated cold chain in India for perishable F&V and other perishable allied agri – commodities to reduce wastages and improve the gains to farmers and consumers substantially.
Indian Cold Chain industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of ~28% over the next 4 years and reach a market size of ~USD 13 Bn in 2017 and is largely unorganised in nature. Being one of the supporters of India Cold Chain Show 2016 (ICCS), NCCD is working closely with centre to develop and set standard policy frameworks for cold chain sector in India. With its support, Indian Cold Chain sector will definitely build-up an appropriate IT-based management information system for the cold chain infrastructure. India still in its nascent stage in cold chain market as compare to other countries so to educate the stakeholders NCCD conducts various campaigns which highlights the benefits of integrated cold chain. National Horticulture Board (NHB)
National Horticulture Board (NHB) helps in improving integrated development of Horticulture industry and to help in coordinating, sustaining the production and processing of fruits and vegetables. Cold Chain Industry in India is on a growth path and has also got the coveted ‘infrastructure status’ by the Government. The Government of India recognizes that development of cold chain sector is one of the essential steps in upgrading India’s food processing industry. NHB is one of the supporters of India Cold Chain Show (ICCS). It’s a global platform for logistics equipment manufacturers, service providers, suppliers and customers to interact and build global networks. It will not only help in growing industry awareness, but also highlights the challenges faced by the industry. Indian government has observed series of bottlenecks which is affecting the growth of cold chain, so to facilitate such issues government is supporting ICCS which eventually attract foreign investment in Indian Cold Chain sector.
